Canto Dace Fish Dip with Black Beans

Perfect as a party appetizer, snack, or spread, this dip pairs beautifully with crackers, toast, or fresh vegetables. The combination of smoky fish, bold black beans, and smooth cheese delivers a decadent flavor that’s both traditional and modern.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Can of Salted Black Bean Dace Fish
  • 2 tablespoons low-fat cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon low-fat mayo
  • 3 shallots
  • 2 stems of scallion or cilantro or both
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds for garnish
TO DIP WITH:
  • Yellow Pepper
  • Red Pepper
  • Cucumber
  • Water crackers
  • Celery sticks

  • Knife & Cutting Board
  • Toaster / Oven
  • Serving Bowl / Dish

Instructions
 

  1. Drain and discard the oil from the fish, then separate the fish from the black beans.
  2. Place three shallots in a microwave for 10 seconds and remove the skin.
  3. In a blender, combine the fish, cream cheese, mayonnaise, chopped cilantro or scallions, and shallots.
  4. Rough Blend for 5-10 seconds, aiming for a slight texture of the fish to remain.
  5. Add drained Black beans into the dip and serve from the Can.
  6. Sprinkle Scalion and sesame seeds for garnish.
  7. Serve with your favourite Vegetables, crackers, or spread it over a bagel or toast.
