Prawn Rice Paper Rolls

These rolls are healthy, naturally gluten-free, and low in oil, making them ideal for a light meal, snack, or dim sum platter. Enjoy them freshly made with a touch of chili, sesame oil, or hoisin sauce for extra flavor!

Ingredients
  

  • 12 medium frozen prawns
  • 1 stem Thai basil
  • 3 piece rice paper (soak in water)
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese white wine
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • 2 spray olive oil

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Cutting Board & Knife
  • Steamer or Wok with Steaming Rack
  • Small Pot / Pan
  • Plate or Tray
  • Shallow Dish of Warm Water
  • Tongs or Chopsticks
  • Dipping Bowls

Instructions
 

  1. Defrost prawns by soaking them in water for 5-10 minutes
  2. Add all the marinade to the prawns.
  3. Tear basil and add it to the prawns.
  4. Soak rice paper thoroughly until limp.
  5. Spray the plate with olive oil.
  6. Add four prawns and basil in the middle, and roll the rice paper into a roll.
  7. Repeat and spray olive oil one more time to keep the rolls from sticking.
  8. Steam for 10 minutes until the prawn is pink and cooked.
  9. Add soy sauce and chili oil to taste and eat immediately!
  10. If you want to serve this at a party, you can make the rolls ahead of time, but keep each roll separate and then steam right before serving. Do not sit and transport, it will be one clump of sticky mess!
